October to March would be the best time, as it offers the best weather, especially for travelling in and around Varkala. Having said, there are many who do visit Varkala during monsoon too, as it can be charming in its own way even during that time of the year (except during peak monsoon between June and July, of course).
Light clothes, slippers, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a cap/hat is recommended.
An advance is required to be paid at the initial time of your booking. You can find all details about booking & cancellation, here.
